Integrated Pest Management/Fertigation Lead

This includes the application of foliar feeds and pesticides, scouting for pests and diseases, and ensuring the proper mixing and application of fertilizers. Each Lead will also be responsible for training and overseeing an IPM/Fertigation Technician. This position will report to the Flower/Fertigation Manager.

Each day, Jushi team members continue to grow, cultivate, process and manufacture a comprehensive suite of cannabis brands under the names: The Bank, The Lab, Tasteology, Nira + Medicinals and Sèche, which are addressing a wide variety of consumer and patient needs across multiple states.

We are seeking two highly motivated and experienced Integrated Pest Management/Fertigation Leads to join our growing indoor cultivation team.

Schedule:
  • Lead 1: Sunday - Wednesday
  • Lead 2: Wednesday - Saturday

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • IPM:
    • Scouting and Monitoring:
      • Regularly inspect all plants, paying close attention to the undersides of leaves, growing tips, and the soil surface for signs of pests (insects, mites, etc.) and diseases (fungi, bacteria, viruses).
      • Utilize various monitoring tools such as sticky traps, magnifying glasses, and microscopes to aid in pest and disease identification.
      • Identify and document pest and disease life stages to determine the appropriate treatment strategy.
      • Maintain detailed records of scouting observations, including pest/disease identification, location, severity, and treatment recommendations.
    • Prevention and Control:
      • Implement preventative measures to minimize pest and disease outbreaks, including sanitation protocols, environmental controls (temperature, humidity, airflow), and cultural practices (proper irrigation, pruning, spacing).
      • Execute IPM plans based on scouting observations and established thresholds, utilizing a combination of biological controls (beneficial insects, microbes), cultural controls, and, when necessary, targeted pesticide applications.
      • Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices regarding the handling, mixing, and application of pesticides.
      • Maintain accurate records of all IPM activities, including pesticide applications, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Fertigation:
    • Nutrient Management:
      • Monitor fertigation plans tailored to specific plant growth stages and environmental conditions.
      • Accurately calculate and measure nutrient solutions, ensuring proper concentrations and ratios of essential elements.
      • Monitor and adjust nutrient levels, pH, and EC of irrigation water and nutrient solutions to maintain optimal plant health.
      • Regularly test and analyze irrigation water and nutrient solutions to identify potential imbalances or deficiencies.
    • Irrigation Management:
      • Learn how to operate and maintain Ridder irrigation systems including Synopta, dosatrons, pumps, filters, and emitters.
      • Monitor irrigation schedules and adjust watering frequency and duration based on plant needs and environmental factors.
      • Ensure proper drainage and prevent overwatering or underwatering.
    • Record Keeping:
      • Maintain detailed records of all fertigation activities, including nutrient formulations, application rates, and irrigation schedules.
      • Track and analyze plant growth and yield data in relation to fertigation practices.
      • Maintain and edit relevant Standard Operating Procedures annually.
  • Training and Supervision:
    • Train an IPM/Fertigation Technician in all aspects of IPM and fertigation, including spraying foliar feeds and pesticides, scouting, identification, treatment methods, safety protocols, nutrient management, irrigation techniques, and record keeping.
    • Provide ongoing guidance and support to the Technician, ensuring they understand and adhere to established procedures.
    • Oversee the Technician's work to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain adequate inventory of pesticides, fertilizers, biological control agents, and other supplies.
    • Order supplies as needed, ensuring timely delivery and proper storage.
    • Properly store and dispose of all chemicals and waste materials in accordance with regulations.
  • Other Duties:
    • Assist the Flower/Fertigation Manager with other tasks as assigned, such as data collection, equipment maintenance, and facility sanitation.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
    • Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
 
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a commercial indoor cultivation setting.
    • Proven experience with IPM practices and pesticide application.
    • Knowledge of plant nutrition and fertigation techniques.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Associate or bachelor's degree in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
    • A state-issued Private Applicator Certificate is required.
    • Ability to accurately identify pests and diseases.
    • Knowledge of plant physiology and nutrient requirements.
    • Proficient in the use of spray equipment, irrigation systems, and other tools.
    • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Able to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ability to work in an indoor cultivation environment with varying temperatures and humidity levels.
