The Kitchen Lead will be responsible for the day-to-day operations in the kitchen, including staffing, training, scheduling, inventory management, and compliance adherence. This role requires competence in a fast-paced environment, strong leadership skills, and the ability to effectively interact with patients and other members of the Team to ensure a positive culture and the best possible patient experience for our clientele. You will be reporting directly to the Kitchen Manager.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Kitchen Lead provides oversight for daily operations and staff across both the formulation/filling area and kitchen. This position is responsible for managing staff, schedules, inventory, sanitation, quality control, coordinating product testing, creating items in METRC, allocating
 
distillate for edible formulation, uploading test results, recipe development, ensuring compliance, assigning tasks, and coordination with extraction and packaging teams. The Kitchen Lead will lead the team to produce high-quality, consistently dosed infused edibles.

GENERAL JOB DUTIES:
  • Supervise activities of cooks, assistants, and other kitchen personnel
  • Create schedules, assign tasks, and oversee work to meet production needs
  • Track inventory of ingredients, supplies, and final products
  • Create new products and build recipes in METRC inventory tracking system
  • Develop and test new edible recipes aligned with company brands
  • Ensure standardized recipes are followed consistently
  • Oversee accurate measurements and dosing of cannabis oils, concentrates
  • Coordinate lab testing of all infused products for potency and contaminants
  • Lead continuous improvement of processes, efficiency, and output
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of kitchen equipment and facilities
  • Conduct quality control checks and troubleshoot issues
  • Coordinate with the extraction team on oil supplies and specifications
  • Maintain kitchen logs, production records, safety procedures
  • Ensure strict adherence to all regulations, safety guidelines, and company policies
  • Keep updated on food safety regulations and cannabis compliance
  • Promote safe work environment and adhere to all policies and guidelines
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Must be 21+ years old and pass background checks
  • 2+ years in highly regulated industry such as food, pharmaceuticals, or cannabis
  • Experience in high-volume food production
  • Knowledge of cannabis laws, regulations, and compliance
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Willingness to handle physical tasks and operate kitchen equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasionally Twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl
  • The ability to communicate orally with management and other co-workers is crucial. Sitting or standing for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. 
  • Some heavy lifting may be required. Exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally may be required.
