THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Laboratory Technician – Filling Focused role assists the manufacturing team in the production of cannabis based medicines.

  • Responsible for cannabis product formulation, mixing and filling
  • Carry out quality control checks on finished products.
  • Follow work instructions and complete necessary information and data as called out on WI’s, forms or spreadsheets
  • Perform necessary steps in formulation, filling and manufacture of cannabis materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Able to work independently as well as operating as a team.
  • Keeps a detailed laboratory log, dating and recording all tasks performed and relevant results.
  • Follow all site Safety requirements including use of PPE.   Performs weekly safety-checks of fire-extinguishing equipment, eyewash stations and shower stations. Attends safety meetings as required.
  • Perform other functions as necessary to provide an adequate supply of product to meet patient demand.
  • Able to setup, maintain, clean and repair equipment.  Some machine maintenance will be required.
  • Conduct inventory audits of lab consumables and other materials.   Responsible for keeping an inventory of packaging/labeling materials to ensure supply chain stability.
  • Provide feedback to improve process quality and efficiency.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 2 year technical degree in automation, packaging and biomedical technology or related field (Required)
  • In lieu of technical degree, minimum of 3 years experience working in regulated environment with automated or semi-automated equipment (Required)
  • Ability to communicate to employees in organization
  • Excellent computer, mathematical, language and reasoning skills
  • General computer ability
  • Previous experience in medical cannabis industry (Preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks
  • Frequently sitting
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including periodic weekends
  • Occasionally Twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl
  • Ability to communicate orally with management and other co-workers is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication may be required. Sitting or standing for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
  • Some heavy lifting may be required. Exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally may be required.
  • Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment.
  • Must be comfortable operating and troubleshooting equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job is performed indoors and outdoors. Must be able to work in hot, humid environments for extended periods of time with exposure to dust, allergens, and water. Appropriate PPE will be provided. Activities include extended periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, stooping and bending. Twisting in tight areas may also be required at times.
