DIRECTOR OF TOTAL REWARDS:
We identify, evaluate, and acquire U.S.-based cannabis operations within each state to vertically integrate, produce, and distribute medical grade cannabis formulations in the United States offering patients and customers premium cannabis and related products.

THE TEAM:
Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, Jushi is a vertically integrated, multi-state cannabis company that develops and operates high-end retail locations, premium brands, state-of-the-art cultivation, processing, manufacturing facilities, along with a cutting-edge online platform that is setting a new standard for a sophisticated, data-driven, modern cannabis experience. 

Since its founding in 2018, Jushi has grown from just a handful of people with an idea to more than 1500 employees strong. The Company has scaled its operations in seven states, including Pennsylvania, Virginia, Massachusetts, Illinois, California, Nevada, and Ohio, and has been named one of the top five cannabis companies to work for by Cannabis Business Times.

The Company operates more than two dozen retail locations across the country under the retail brand, BEYOND / HELLO™ as well as under the recently acquired brands, Nature’s Remedy, and NuLeaf. The Company provides an unparalleled in-store experience, coupled with online reservations and in-store express pickup.

Each day, Jushi team members continue to grow, cultivate, process and manufacture a comprehensive suite of cannabis brands under the names: The Bank, The Lab, Tasteology, Nira + Medicinals and Sèche, which are addressing a wide variety of consumer and patient needs across multiple states.



WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Director of Total Rewards will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive compensation and benefits strategies that support the company’s overall business goals. This includes oversight of benefits administration, workers' compensation, payroll, 401(k) management, leave of absence programs, ADA compliance, and total compensation programs. The ideal candidate will ensure that the company’s total rewards programs are competitive, compliant, and align with company values and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration

  • Lead payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.
  • Collaborate with business partners to streamline payroll processes and manage payroll-related reporting.
 Benefits & Leave Management
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, 401(k) plan, and other supplemental offerings.
  • Manage leave policies, including FMLA, paid time off (PTO), short-term and long-term disability, and unpaid leaves.
  • Ensure compliance with all benefits-related laws and regulations, including COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, and ADA.
  • Partner with external brokers to negotiate health and welfare benefits that meet the needs of both employees and the business.
 401(k) Plan Administration
  • Manage the administration of the company’s 401(k) plan, ensuring timely contributions, compliance, and audit preparedness.
  • Act as the primary contact for external 401(k) vendors and oversee employee education initiatives around retirement savings.
Workers’ Compensation & ADA Compliance
  • Administer workers' compensation claims, working closely with insurance providers and employees to ensure efficient handling of cases.
  • Oversee the company’s compliance with ADA regulations, ensuring that appropriate accommodations are provided to employees with disabilities.
  • Manage return-to-work programs and collaborate with employees and managers on accommodations and modifications.
Compensation Management
  • Design and oversee the company’s compensation structure, including salary ranges, incentive programs, and bonus structures.
  • Conduct market research to ensure competitive pay practices, utilizing benchmarking tools and salary surveys.
  • Lead annual merit review processes and salary adjustments in collaboration with department heads.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local wage laws and regulations.
Strategy and Leadership
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of HR professionals specializing in benefits, and payroll.
  • Partner with the HR leadership team to align total rewards strategies with the overall company mission and business objectives.
  • Provide ongoing analysis and recommendations for improving the effectiveness of total rewards programs to attract, retain, and motivate talent.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, legislative changes, and best practices in total rewards management.
 Budget Management
  • Analyze cost implications of benefits and compensation programs and recommend changes to optimize cost-effectiveness while maintaining a competitive edge in the market.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree or an MBA is preferred.
Experience:
  • 15+ years of experience in HR, compensation, benefits administration, or payroll, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing total rewards programs across multiple functions including compensation, benefits, payroll, and workers’ compensation.
Certifications:
    • Professional certifications such as CCP (Certified Compensation Professional), CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist), or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP are highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with HRIS systems and payroll systems.
    • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding compensation and benefits.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make strategic recommendations.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills with a collaborative approach to management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive HR matters.
